After backlash from the student body and campus journalists, IGNITE finally posted Board of Directors meeting minutes at some point between Tuesday and Wednesday on its Governance page, following their own bylaws set out in the Constitution.
IGNITE removed all the meeting minutes earlier this year as it cracked down on student journalists looking to attend the Board meetings, where elected and paid student representatives make sensitive financial decisions on the multi-million dollar student union budget.
Only the minutes for the May and September meetings were posted. The October meeting minutes will likely be posted after they are approved by the Board at the November meeting, however, it is unclear whether the previous minutes will be posted once again after their earlier removal.
The Board minutes for September revealed that the elected student directors approved moving ahead with proposed bylaws that end executive elections, create classes of student union membership and increase the power of unilateral Board decisions, among other changes.
