The Naomi Watts led series has been halted just before they began filming the full season.
It seems as though anyone associated with Game of Thrones is in for some bad luck as the first spinoff series from the main story has been cancelled.
Written by Jane Goldman and co-created by Goldman and A Song of Ice & Fire author George R. R. Martin, the spinoff series was to feature Naomi Watts in the lead role and explore the world of Westeros thousands of years before any of our now-beloved characters like Jon Snow, Tyrion Lannister or Arya Stark ever existed.
Deadline and Variety have both confirmed that HBO has not ordered a full series, and HBO has declined to comment on the cancellation.
Martin does, however, have another spinoff season in the works based on his World of Ice & Fire companion novel with acts as a tome of history for the world of Westeros. It details the rise and conquering of the Targaryen lineage and their dragons and chronicling all the wars and deceit leading up to Robert’ Rebellion.
HBO has not clarified whether or not any of the other spinoff series will be moving forward.
