Well over a decade since robo-detective Inspector Gadget was relevant, Disney is looking to bring him back.
Debuting in 1983 as a cartoon, Inspector Gadget went on to receive two films, one with Matthew Broderick in the leading role in 1999 and a direct-to-video sequel in 2003 with French Stewart replacing Broderick.
The rebooted movie will be live action and see Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell, known for their work on Saturday Night Live! tackling the script. Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, who both recently produced Disney’s Aladdin, will both produce.
On top of the original cartoon and the two live action movies, Gadget recently had a four season computer animated series on Netflix.
The Inspector Gadget series follows the titular character, a cyborg police officer, thwarting M.A.D. (which is short for mean and dirty) and the evil Dr. Claw with the help of his niece, Penny.
There is no news of a release date as of yet.
