Raptors dethrone Kings in final game of road trip

Tomas Karageorgos | Report

The Toronto Raptors defeated the Sacramento Kings by a score of 114-105 on Wednesday night at Golden 1 Center.

Kawhi Leonard returned to action and led Raptors scoring with 25 points, the last game he had played prior to Wednesday was the first game of the road trip against the Phoenix Suns. Pascal Siakam scored 23 points, Serge Ibaka scored 14 and grabbed 14 rebounds, and Jonas Valanciunas recorded a double-double in 20 minutes by scoring 11 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

C.J Miles was out with a right hip issue, along with Norman Powell, it was reported that Powell will miss anywhere from four to six weeks of action after the injury he suffered against the Jazz.

Both Willie Cauley-Stein and Buddy Hield scored 24 points for the Kings, De’Aaron Fox scored 20.

Teams have had trouble containing Serge Ibaka so far, as they tend to focus on Lowry and Leonard, which opens up space for other players, leading to passing plays.

Pascal Siakam has been a revelation for this ball club thus far, and he has some more time to go before he hits his potential.

Even without Kawhi, the Raptors look good; but they look better with him because he makes things tick along with Lowry. Kawhi and Anunoby are similar players, with similar attitudes, they love to play basketball.

The team has an indescribable cohesion that is effective and that break teams down in different ways. For the first time in franchise history, Toronto went perfect on a Western Conference road trip, it is the little things that push the team’s motivation further.

Toronto will look to remain undefeated against the Atlantic Division and undefeated at home as they host the New York Knicks on Saturday at Scotiabank Arena. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
