Marijuana to be legalized on October 17

Jacob Argintaru | Report

On Wednesday, Justin Trudeau announced that marijuana will be legalized in Canada on October 17th of this year.

Liberals originally planned to for legalization in July, but pushed back the date to give provinces more time to prepare.

The Senate just passed marijuana legalization Bill C-45 yesterday, along with Bill C-46 which gives police more power to prosecute impaired drivers.

Legalizing cannabis will make Canada the first G7 country to allow free-use of the drug, which has been illegal since 1923.
