U.S. coalition aircraft over Iraq, Jordan: Reports

Eli Ridder | The Avro Post

Warplanes from the United States-coalition are in the air above Iraq and Jordan near the border with Syria, according to local reports.

It comes after threats of military action specifically from the U.S. and France, who are in the Syrian Operation Inherent Resolve.

Several U.S. allies have been in talks over a possible military response to the alleged chemical weapons attack on Saturday that the Syrian government and Damascus ally Russia denies happening.

A U.S. Navy destroyer, the USS Donald Cook, became situated off the coast of Syria on Tuesday with 60 Tomahawk cruise missiles on board, according to several reports.

The latest developments come just a day after U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said he won’t “rule out anything right now” when it comes to launching airstrikes against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in response to the suspected chemical weapons attacks on civilians over the weekend.
