Trump allegedly makes widow cry

United States President Donald Trump denies a politician’s claim that he made a widow of a deceased soldier cry by uttering insensitive words as completely false.

U.S. Congresswoman Frederica Wilson claimed he told the bereaved wife of Sgt. La. David Johnson that “he knew what he was signing up for, but I guess it hurts anyway.”

Johnson was a special service trooper killed with three others in Niger by Islamic militants on Oct. 4.

The president tweeted out early on Wednesday morning that had proof that Wilson, a Democratic member of the House of Representatives, had “totally fabricated what I said to the wife of a soldier who died in action”, adding that he had proof.

Mr. Trump has not provided evidence of the fabrication at this time.

Trump has already been under fire for saying most other presidents did not contact the families of dead U.S. armed forces members after not connecting with the families of those that died in Niger.

Wilson told Miami TV station WPLG that she heard Trump say the remarks to widow Myeshia Johnson while on speakerphone. She says the call was made just before the soldier’s casket arrived in the state.

“To me, that is something that you can say in a conversation, but you shouldn’t say that to a grieving widow,” Wilson said.

“And everyone knowns when you go to war, you could possibly not come back alive. But you don’t remind a grieving widow of that.”

“This gentlemen has a brain disorder,” said Wilson of Trump.

“He needs to be checked out.”

Wilson tweeted just after 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday that she stood by her account of what she heard the president say.
